At the end of August, the YCAA was delighted to present ‘A Quiz with Bob’, featuring live music and a raffle as well as some tricky brain teasers. Here’s a report from the event by YCAA Chair Liz.
By popular demand, we held a fundraising quiz and invited teams to come along and take on the conundrums posed by Bob Shepherd, our colleague on the YCAA (Yeovil Community Arts Association). With Bob in charge, it was bound to be fun and feature questions of varying complexity.
Teams arrived at the Westlands Entertainment Venue and tables were picked. Raffle tickets were bought and hidden away for safe keeping.
The raffle prizes were truly brilliant and we’re very grateful to the local businesses that donated them. They included:
- Brimsmore Gardens Apple Tree Restaurant
- Haynes the Butchers
- Ceres Health Food Shop, which provided a bulging bag of goodies
- Union Street Brasserie
- Westlands Entertainment Venue, which donated tickets to screenings and the Suzie Dent event of Yeovil Literary Festival
You can see why we sold a huge amount of raffle tickets!
Musical Interlude
During the interval, while we were all fathoming out another quiz question, we joined in singing with HADOC. Sea shanties and other well-loved songs really made the evening swing along. Roger, Dave and Nick have super voices that harmonise perfectly.
A Fun Evening for All
There was a lot of chatter and laughter and everyone left in a good mood; some very happy with their raffle prizes, others with wooden spoons for scoring the least. Most of that team were in the band!
We had a glorious event and it was said that people were already looking forward to the next one.
Thank you to Bob and HADOC for an amazing evening of fun and music and to all the local companies that supported the YCAA with raffle donations.
The Big Question
Will there be another YCAA quiz? Well, we have two future dates in mind for the remainder of this year so watch this space…
